Wheeled Duffel Bags or for that matter, any other Duffel Bag was something I made circles around. During my business travels I used to own nothing less than Samsonite hard cover luggage to prevent my suits from wrinkling, those were the suitcases to own.

But, (like so many other things which have changed in this world) since my retirement I do not fly business or first class anymore, I fly tourist class and if possible on extra deals. There is no comparison in comfort, or course, but the biggest thing to me is the much lower baggage allowance in force since a few years.
These Baggage restrictions are globally now, all airlines are obliged to follow suit. This means that a tourist class traveler has a baggage allowance of one single suitcase with a maximum weight of 50 LBS or 23 Kilos plus one hand luggage of 18 Lbs or 8 Kg. Believe me, that is not very much, ask your wife!

A Wheeled Duffel Bag Will Be Of Advantage?

If you ever tried to keep your hard cover Samsonite suitcase below the allowed 50 Lbs, then you know that you will have to pack very lightly.
I travel two to three times overseas per year, this is a real concern to me. A Samsonite hardcover suitcase weights 15 Lbs (6 Kg), leaving me a meager 35 lbs or 17 Kg for my belongings.
A wheeled duffel bag weights half of this, it will give me an extra 7 Lbs or 3 Kg of loading capacity. Besides this benefit, a wheeled duffel bag or any other duffel bag can be stored in a small place after use. I travel with my motor home during the summer, there is not much room to store bulky luggage, I am glad for every inch of space I gain by using the appropriate luggage, which I can store away in a small corner of my motorhome.
